3D light bulb designs for acrylic illusion lamps.

Valentine and Santa gnome 3D light bulb designs for edge-lit acrylic.

A 3D light bulb lamp is a flat sheet of acrylic that looks like a glowing glass bulb when lit from its edge. The illusion comes from an engraved pattern of lines that catches the light — cut and engrave work together on a single piece.

What is in this collection

A Valentine heart bulb and a Santa gnome bulb. Each comes as SVG, DXF, CDR, AI, EPS and PDF.

How to make one

  1. Use clear cast acrylic, 3–5 mm, with the protective film left on the back.
  2. Engrave the design lightly on one face — the lines should be frosted, not deep.
  3. Cut the outline, with the tab at the bottom sized to your LED base.
  4. Peel the film, clean the acrylic and slot it into an edge-lit LED base.

The tab width must match the slot in your LED base — measure it before cutting. Importing SVG files correctly helps keep engrave and cut on separate steps.

Questions

3D Light Bulbs: what people ask

What acrylic should I use for a 3D light bulb lamp?

Clear cast acrylic 3–5 mm. Cast engraves to a cleaner frost than extruded acrylic.

Do I need a special base?

Yes — an edge-lit LED base. Measure its slot and match the tab at the bottom of the design.

Why does my 3D lamp not glow evenly?

The engraving may be too deep or too faint. Engrave lightly and keep the acrylic clean and free of fingerprints.

Not quite what you need?

It can be drawn to your dimensions.
