Candle holders and lanterns that glow in the right places.
50 candle holder, tealight and lantern designs, drawn for 3 mm wood and LED or cupped tealights.
A candle holder is really a pattern of light. The cut-outs throw the pattern, and the structure around them keeps the piece standing.
What is in this collection
Tealight holders, sphere and ring stands, double candle holders, nativity scenes and seasonal lanterns for Christmas and Halloween. Each is supplied as SVG, DXF, CDR, AI, EPS and PDF with cut and engrave on separate colours.
Using them safely
Wooden lanterns and holders are designed for tealights in metal or glass cups, or LED tealights. Keep open flames well away from any wood above them and never leave a lit candle unattended. The reasoning — heat clearance, ventilation and pattern density — is in designing laser cut lamps and lanterns.
Tips for a clean cut
Lantern panels have a lot of small openings, so kerf and heat build-up matter. Cut the inner details first and use air assist to keep the edges light. Plywood settings has a quick test to find the right speed and power.

Candle Holders: what people ask
Are laser cut wooden candle holders safe?
Used with tealights in metal or glass cups, or with LED tealights, and with good clearance above the flame, yes. Never leave a lit candle unattended in a wooden holder.
What material should I cut candle holders from?
3 mm plywood or MDF is standard. Birch plywood gives a light edge and a warm glow through the cut-outs.
Can I make these lanterns bigger?
Yes, but scaling changes the slot sizes. Scale by the ratio of material thicknesses, or adjust the slots and keep the size.
Not quite what you need?
